Software Engineer

Spectrum IT Recruitment is working with an innovative technology company developing cutting-edge 5G communications technology, and we’re looking for a Software Engineer to join its growing engineering team.This is a hands-on role focused on the software infrastructure underpinning 5G NR physical layer (PHY) systems, with a particular emphasis on achieving real-time performance on embedded platforms.You’ll be working at the intersection of embedded software, high-performance C/C++ and advanced wireless communications, collaborating with hardware, systems and test engineers to deliver highly optimised solutions.What you’ll be doing:Developing software used to run and test 5G NR PHY algorithmsWriting and optimising high-performance C/C++ codeOptimising performance using SIMD, multithreading and hardware accelerationIntegrating software with 5G PHY algorithms and ARM-based platformsImproving and maintaining automated CI testing across the platformSupporting interoperability testing with other technology vendors and operatorsWorking closely with hardware, system architecture and system test teamsContributing to technical reviews and customer-facing engineering discussionsWhat we’re looking for:Strong commercial C or C++ development skillsExperience with scripting using Python, Bash or GroovyA good understanding of software performance and optimisationStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience in any of the following would be particularly valuable:Real-time embedded systems and Embedded LinuxARM platformsSIMD and multithreaded software optimisationFPGA or DSP hardware accelerationSignal processing / DSPXilinx Vivado or other FPGA toolchains5G / telecommunications software developmentO-RAN, eCPRI or fronthaul protocolsIf you’re a C/C++ Software Engineer who enjoys getting close to the hardware and solving challenging real-time performance and optimisation problems, this is an opportunity to work on some seriously interesting next-generation communications technology.
