About the roleWe are looking for a compassionate, resilient and experienced Residential Support Workers to join a therapeutic residential home supporting young people with complex needs.Due to the level of support required, staffing is maintained at a 2:1 ratio at all times.The home takes a therapeutic approach, focusing on understanding individual needs, recognising potential triggers and creating a safe, calm and supportive environment.Shift patterns10am10pm10pm10amSleep-ins may be available when completing back-to-back shiftsKey responsibilitiesBuild positive, trusting relationships with young people.Provide emotional and social support, helping young people develop positive relationships and engage with their local community.Act as a positive role model through appropriate behaviour, communication and emotional regulation.Keep young people engaged throughout shifts by providing meaningful activities and reducing boredom.Use effective de-escalation techniques to manage conflict safely and appropriately.Follow Behaviour Support Plans, Risk Assessments and Individual Care Plans at all times.Complete accurate and detailed daily records, including incidents, behaviours and significant events.Maintain consistent routines and appropriate boundaries to help young people feel safe and secure.Read care plans thoroughly and understand each young person's individual needs, triggers and support strategies.Use compassionate, non-judgemental language and maintain a calm and understanding approach.Help maintain a safe environment for the young people and staff.The ideal candidateWe are particularly interested in candidates who have experience or training in:Level 3 Health & Social CarePACE trainingTeam TeachDe-escalation and restraintTherapeutic approaches and techniquesSupporting young people with challenging behaviours and complex needsYou should have a good understanding of how to recognise potential triggers and respond appropriately before situations escalate.
