Project Engineer

A well-established engineering services business is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join its growing team. This is a varied and hands-on role, managing projects from initial enquiry through to completion across a range of mechanical engineering, manufacturing, repair and site-service applications.

You'll work closely with customers, suppliers, workshop teams and subcontractors to deliver high-quality engineering solutions, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical and customer-facing aspects of engineering.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will manage engineering projects from initial enquiry through to successful delivery.

Attend customer sites to assess requirements and carry out technical surveys.

Produce project scopes, technical documentation and engineering reports.

The Project Engineer will prepare quotations and support commercial project activities.

Coordinate manufacturing, repair, fabrication and subcontracted work packages.

Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Monitor project progress, ensuring quality, cost and delivery expectations are achieved.

The Project Engineer will prepare support troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure all projects are delivered safely and in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures.

About You

A minimum of five years' experience within a mechanical engineering environment and similar Project Engineering role

Strong practical engineering knowledge with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Commercial awareness with an understanding of project costs, lead times and customer requirements.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Desirable Experience

The Project Engineer will ideally have a background in delivering projects across rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes or fans.
