Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) SEND & Mainstream Provisions

Location: South Warrington & Lymm (WA4, Cheshire)

Pay Rate: £105 £125 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term Placements & Flexible Supply

Are you an experienced or status-qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for rewarding classroom leadership roles across South Warrington and the surrounding Cheshire area?

GAC Education is recruiting dedicated HLTAs to deliver whole-class cover, PPA release, and targeted small-group interventions across mainstream primary schools, secondary academies, resourced provisions, and specialist SEN/SEMH settings in and around South Warrington, Thelwall, Lymm, and the M56 corridor.

Whether you specialize in managing dynamic classroom environments or leading tailored intervention programs for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASC), or ADHD, we offer flexible block placements and ongoing long-term contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging whole-class lessons and PPA cover in line with national curriculum expectations and tailored provision maps.

  • Leading targeted 1:1 and small-group academic or nurture interventions for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Implementing positive behavior support frameworks, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed techniques.

  • Assessing student progress, delivering constructive feedback to class teachers and SENCOs, and supporting overall classroom dynamics.

  • Upholding high safeguarding standards and ensuring full adherence to school child protection policies.

Candidate Requirements
  • Recognized HLTA Status (or substantial, verifiable experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools).

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or complex emotional needs.

  • An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check during registration).

  • Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding principles and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

  • Formal de-escalation training (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA, or Safety-Intervention) is highly desirable.

Why Work with GAC Education?
  • Ethical, Transparent Pay: Competitive daily rates fully compliant with national framework standards, accurately reflecting your elevated responsibilities.

  • Localized WA4/WA5 Placements: Roles matched specifically to your travel preferences across South Warrington, Lymm, Thelwall, and surrounding Cheshire towns.

  • Direct Director Support: Direct line of contact with experienced recruitment directors who understand the daily demands of SEN and cover staff.

  • Flexible Working Patterns: Choose stable, ongoing full-time block bookings or retain total control over your weekly supply schedule.
