This role is with a family-owned chilled distribution business providing refrigerated transport and wider logistics services. The company operates from multiple locations across England and supports the movement of temperature-controlled food products for a range of customers.
The role
We are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join a night-shift operation in Chesterfield on a temporary basis. You will be responsible for completing deliveries safely, efficiently and on time while maintaining high standards of customer service and vehicle care.
Key responsibilities
• Driving an HGV Class 1 vehicle on planned delivery routes
• Completing night-time deliveries and collections
• Carrying out vehicle checks before and after each shift
• Ensuring loads are secure and handled correctly
• Operating refrigerated equipment as required
• Completing delivery paperwork and using digital tachograph systems
• Communicating professionally with depot teams and customers
• Following road safety, transport and site procedures
Skills and qualifications
• Valid HGV Class 1 licence, also known as LGV C+E
• Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
• Valid digital tachograph driver card
• Previous HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred
• Experience in chilled or temperature-controlled distribution is advantageous
• Good knowledge of UK roads and transport regulations
• Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work independently
• Professional approach and good communication skills
