Senior Recruitment Consultant @ Imperial Recruitment Group | Recruiting, CIPD qualified

Imperial Recruitment are pleased to be recruiting for a Design Engineer on behalf of a well‑established manufacturer specialising in rigid thermo‑formed packaging for the food and consumer goods sectors. This role involves designing innovative packaging solutions, producing production‑ready tooling, and supporting prototype development and CNC set‑up when required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop rigid thermo‑formed packaging solutions to meet customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities
  • Produce 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks
  • Generate toolpaths and CNC programs using Powermill
  • Create high‑quality renders and visual presentations using KeyShot, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and version control throughout development
  • Assist with prototype development and machine set‑up as needed, including holiday cover

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in packaging design, ideally within rigid plastics or thermo‑forming
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling and drafting essential)
  • Working knowledge of Powermill for CNC toolpath generation and programming
  • Skilled in KeyShot and Adobe Creative Cloud for visualisation and presentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting and communication
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including thermo‑forming, CNC machining and toolmaking
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail
  • Experience with prototype development and machine set‑up
  • Knowledge of polymer materials and their properties
  • Strong problem‑solving and innovation mindset
  • Hybrid working flexibility
