Location: Oxford – HybridContract: 9 months – Temp to PermHours: Full-timeStart Date: ASAPWe’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a highly technical team, working on the development of a next-generation medical device platform. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a strong embedded software background and proven experience working within safety-critical, regulated medical device environments.The RoleAs an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and verification of embedded software components for a next-generation platform.Your responsibilities will include:Designing, developing and verifying embedded software componentsDeveloping real-time control loopsDesigning and implementing software algorithmsDeveloping system logging and diagnostic frameworksImplementing software update and upgrade mechanismsContributing to software architecture and technical designInvestigating and resolving software defectsSupporting software development throughout the full software lifecycleProducing and maintaining regulated life sciences software documentationSupporting regulatory compliance activitiesContributing to software lifecycle management and associated processesSupporting wider software and engineering management activitiesWorking within a safety-critical development environmentAbout YouWe’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with:Strong experience in embedded software developmentProven experience working on safety-critical systemsPrevious experience developing Class III medical devices – essentialStrong understanding of software development within a regulated medical device environmentExperience with real-time embedded systems and control loopsExperience with algorithm design and implementationUnderstanding of software architecture, diagnostics and system loggingExperience with software update/upgrade mechanismsStrong knowledge of the IEC 62304 software lifecycle processExperience with ISO 14971 risk managementExperience producing and working with regulated software documentationA structured and quality-focused approach to software development
