Payroll Implementation Consultant

Salary: £36,000 – £50,000

Location: Birmingham

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

Advise clients on how to improve and modernise their payroll operations

Assess existing payroll setups and identify gaps, risks and opportunities for change

Help clients select and implement payroll and workforce management technology

Provide specialist input across payroll projects, audits and transformation programmes

Work alongside project teams to help deliver complex client engagements from start to finish

Build relationships with key stakeholders and act as a trusted payroll advisor

Support business development through proposals, tenders, presentations and client meetings

Contribute to developing new payroll solutions, processes and industry best practice

Ideal Candidate

Experienced payroll professional with a strong background in UK payroll operations

Someone who understands payroll beyond processing, including controls, compliance, systems and wider business impact

Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements

Comfortable analysing large volumes of payroll data and using Excel to identify trends, issues and discrepancies

Confident working with payroll technology and systems, with exposure to platforms such as Workday, Oracle, SAP or Dayforce

Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients

Naturally curious and commercially minded, with an interest in technology, transformation and improving payroll functions

Previous experience in consulting, implementation, transformation or payroll technology would be a strong advantage

International payroll exposure would be beneficial

Ideal for someone who has a strong payroll background but wants to step away from pure processing and move into a more varied, client-facing consulting career.
