Operations and Asset Manager (Roads)

Location: Midlothian
Are you an experienced Roads, Highways or Infrastructure Manager looking for a senior role where you can lead a sizeable operational team, influence long-term strategy and make a genuine impact?
Our client is looking for an experienced Operations and Asset Manager (Roads) to take responsibility for the delivery of road construction, maintenance, winter service and asset management activities across the organisation.

This is much more than a traditional maintenance management position.
You will take responsibility for a workforce of approximately 45 employees, leading the operational delivery of essential roads services while also helping shape how the organisation manages and invests in its highways assets for the future.
Your responsibilities will include:
·Leading road construction and maintenance operations
·Managing and developing a team of approximately 45 staff
·Delivering planned and reactive highways maintenance programmes
·Leading winter maintenance and weather emergency operations
·Developing road asset management strategies and plans
·Managing operational budgets, resources, plant and materials
·Monitoring service performance and ensuring efficient service delivery
·Managing contractors, subcontractors and framework arrangements
·Supporting procurement, tendering and contract management
·Ensuring works meet appropriate safety, quality and industry standards
·Working with senior stakeholders and external partners
·Contributing to the long-term development of the road network
This role would suit an experienced Operations Manager, Highways Manager, Roads Manager, Maintenance Manager, Asset Manager, Contracts Manager or senior highways professional looking for greater responsibility and the opportunity to influence both operational and strategic decision-making.
