Job Description

Senior Data Engineer - Remote

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take a key role in developing, modernising and improving the organisations data platform and data warehouse capability.

This is a hands-on senior engineering position with genuine ownership. Youll be responsible for designing and building robust data pipelines, developing scalable data models and helping shape the future architecture of the data platform.

Youll be joining an environment where there is an existing data estate to improve, alongside significant opportunity to introduce modern engineering practices and technologies. Microsoft Fabric will play an important role in the ongoing modernisation of the platform, so were looking for someone who can bring strong practical experience of Fabric and help drive its adoption.

Youll work closely with Data, BI, Technology, Business Analysis and wider project teams, while also providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

What Youll Be Doing Take ownership of the design, development and ongoing improvement of the organisations data platform and warehouse.

Design, build and optimise reliable data pipelines across multiple source systems.

Develop scalable ETL/ELT processes to transform complex operational data into trusted, usable datasets.

Lead the modernisation of the existing data warehouse and data platform, with Microsoft Fabric at the heart of the future architecture.

Design and maintain robust data models using approaches such as Kimball, dimensional modelling, star schemas and medallion architecture.

Work across a variety of source systems where data structures, integration capabilities and data quality can vary significantly.

Identify and resolve complex data quality and performance issues across source systems, pipelines, transformations and reporting layers.

Introduce and improve monitoring, logging, testing, validation and recovery processes.

Work closely with BI Analysts to develop high-quality warehouse models, marts and reusable datasets.
