Job Description

Technical Leads – Rainwater Management & SuDS

An engineer-led, employee-owned civil and environmental consultancy has just opened a new office in Manchester.

They’re now looking for two Technical Leads at Engineer/Consultant level to join the team, with a focus on Rainwater Management, SuDS and Nature-Based Solutions.

You’ll be involved in a range of projects focused on improving the way surface water is managed, developing practical solutions that also deliver wider environmental, social and economic benefits.

Your work could include:

* Rainwater Management and surface water drainage design

* Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS)

* Swales, raingardens, wetlands, ponds, tree pits and permeable paving

* Flood risk, drainage and water quality solutions

* Innovative approaches such as rainwater harvesting, reed beds and surface water separation

* Working across disciplines including hydrology, ecology, landscape, geotechnical and civil engineering

* Leading a small portfolio of low-complexity projects with support from Senior Technical Leads

* Working with internal teams, local authorities, regulators and external partners

They’re looking for mid-level Engineers or Consultants with experience in project delivery and design or technical support. You’ll ideally have a background in drainage, flood risk, hydrology, SuDS or the water industry, alongside a genuine interest in sustainable rainwater management and green-blue infrastructure.

What makes this opportunity stand out is the chance to work on projects where drainage design goes beyond simply moving water, with a strong focus on Nature-Based Solutions, natural capital and wider environmental benefits.

If you’re interested in joining a growing Manchester water team and working on innovative approaches to rainwater management, we’d love to hear from you...
