Base pay range

Salary: Up to £80,000 (10% bonus)

Hybrid, 2 days a week on-site (Leeds)

Right to work in UK required

About the role

• Taking ownership of core backend architecture, designing and delivering reliable, scalable solutions in Python
• Building and refining APIs and microservices using modern frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or Django
• Designing and optimising data models and SQL queries to ensure performance at scale
• Deploying to AWS environments using modern DevOps practices - including Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation (Docker)
• Contributing to the evolution of the engineering culture through mentorship, code reviews, and technical leadership
• Driving automation and reliability through unit testing, API testing, and continuous delivery

Seeking

• 5+ years’ experience building production-grade software in Python
• Strong knowledge of OOP, clean code principles, and modern design patterns
• Confident working with SQL databases, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and infrastructure as code
• Comfortable in Agile environments, with an understanding of CI/CD and DevOps workflows
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to guide and mentor others while staying hands-on
