Senior Low-Latency Java Engineer

Job Description

Location: London (Hybrid: Approx. 3 days per week onsite with the client)

About Us

We are an elite technology consultancy called in by tier-1 financial institutions when engineering precision is absolutely non-negotiable. We are often engaged when other vendors fail, maintaining an exceptionally high bar for technical skill, EQ, productivity, and conscientiousness. We operate on a transparent, high-base compensation model with no variable bonus, designed to attract and retain the market's top engineering talent.

The Role

We are seeking a top-tier Low-Latency Java Engineer to join a multi-year, mission-critical engagement building next-generation electronic trading platforms. Operating across either Foreign Exchange (FX) or Cash Equities domains, you will architect and build ultra-fast, commercial-grade, event-sourced microservices from the ground up. You will tackle massive scale and deterministic latency, ensuring systems operate flawlessly under severe market volatility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engineer extreme-performance, mission-critical Java frameworks based on event-sourcing architectures.
  • Conduct relentless performance assessments, JVM tuning, and system profiling at the OS, JVM, and application layers.
  • Collaborate directly with quantitative and front-office stakeholders, utilizing high EQ to communicate complex architectural decisions clearly.
  • Produce clear diagrammatic documentation and model key system aspects using UML sequence diagrams.

What We Are Looking For

  • Deep Java Mastery: Complete knowledge of modern Java, the JVM, and the Linux Operating system.
  • Mechanical Sympathy: A proven track record of targeted performance tuning, memory management, avoiding GC pauses, and writing zero-allocation code.
  • Proven Commitment: A history of solid tenures (mostly 3+ years), demonstrating you are someone who invests in the mission and makes good long-term decisions.
  • The "X-Factor": We look for passionate technologists with prestigious previous employers, high-achieving academic records, and a dedication to quality engineering (TDD, CI/CD, observability).
