Job Title: Children Support Worker Aspergers and Autism Location: Lymington, Hampshire Salary: £26,000 per annum Job Type: Temp-to-Perm Prospero Health and Social care are actively looking to recruit Support Workers to support a residential service and school that provides specialist support for up to 40 children with autism aged between 7 and 19. The service comprises both a residential home and school. This role will cover both the children's day to day life and activities within the residential service as well as within the classroom to provide continuity to the young people's lives, which is highly important to the students at the school. The role of the Support Worker is to be there for important milestones in the lives of learners as they progress through education.
The purpose-built school is set on the rural and picturesque New Forest area with links to Lymington. This role is commutable from Bournemouth, New Milton, Christchurch, Poole and the surrounding towns and villages. Due to the rural location of the school, we are only considering drivers for this role. Duties: · Meeting the needs of the students and young people that live at the service · Safeguarding the Children and Young People · Managing challenging behaviours and using de-escalation methods when needed · Recording and Reporting interactions with the students · Attending Meetings and appointments · Planning and engaging in activities at home and in the community · Supporting the Young People to gain independence · House duties including cooking and cleaning The children are supported to socialise and meet lifelong friends in a safe and nurturing environment. The approach blends a mixture of education and care with therapeutic support to focus directly on life, work and independence skills. There are qualified occupational therapists, a clinical psychologist and a team of trained carers and teachers to support both the students and to support the team to maximise the potential of the young people they care for. Person Specification:
· A calm, patient, and empathetic nature · Experience in the care sector (desirable) · The passion for working with young people and maximising their potential in life · Drivers with access to vehicles is required due to the location of the school · A sense of humour (desired) We are looking to pay successful candidates at a competitive rate with flexible working schedule, a fully supportive work environment in a team There is excellent training on site and the successful candidates will be encouraged to take on additional qualifications moving forwards including qualifications to progress in social care such as the Level 3 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce.
