Controls Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled and driven Controls Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering next‑generation manufacturing technologies—working at the heart of innovation in electric propulsion systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of the engineering team, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining control systems standards that ensure production‑ready equipment and seamless integration across manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of control systems and standards
  • Develop and maintain PLC, robotics, and manufacturing control solutions
  • Ensure robust integration between shop‑floor systems and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Provide technical expertise in root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Commission and optimise machine monitoring and quality systems
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and IT teams
  • Maintain documentation including technical standards, project books, and specifications
  • Support supplier development aligned with equipment standards and cost efficiency

Essential Skills

  • Siemens trained
  • Strong experience in PLC programming and control systems (high priority)
  • Understanding of industrial automation and machine electrical systems
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards and legislation

Desirable Skills

  • Robotics experience
  • Industrial Ethernet and network architecture knowledge
  • Experience with manufacturing or automotive environments
