Salary: £30,255

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week (including weekends and bank holidays)

Successful candidates may be invited to a second-stage face-to-face interview

Initial 9 weeks of training will be based in Birmingham

Enjoy at least one day off every weekend

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy convenience store. This is an excellent opportunity for a retail professional who enjoys leading teams, delivering great customer service and driving operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

Support the daily management of the store

Oversee stock replenishment, deliveries and stock rotation

Manage tills and cash handling procedures

Ensure high standards of merchandising, cleanliness and product availability

Assist with store opening and closing duties

Maintain compliance with health, safety and food safety regulations

Monitor waste, stock loss and inventory control

Team Leadership

Lead, motivate and develop store colleagues

Support recruitment, training and onboarding activities

Create staff rotas and ensure appropriate store coverage

Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching

Manage employee relations matters fairly and professionally

Customer Service

Deliver an excellent customer experience

Resolve customer queries and complaints effectively

Build positive relationships with customers and the local community

Promote customer loyalty and repeat business

Commercial Performance

Support the achievement of sales and profitability targets

Monitor key performance indicators, including availability, waste and shrinkage

Help control store costs and maximise efficiency

Produce accurate reports when required

About You

Previous retail supervisory or management experience is desirable

Strong leadership and communication skills
