The Company

This is not your average CAM programming opportunity.

Our client is a market-leading advanced manufacturing business that is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting engineering companies in the UK. Operating from a state-of-the-art facility, they are investing heavily in technology, people and capability as they continue to scale.

Supplying complex, high-precision components into highly regulated industries including aerospace and defence, they are building a world-class manufacturing environment where innovation, quality and continuous improvement sit at the heart of everything they do.

With significant growth plans, ongoing investment and genuine opportunities for progression, this is an opportunity to join a business where your career can develop alongside the company's success.

The Role

As a CAM Programmer, you will take ownership of the entire programming process, from receiving complex engineering drawings through to proven production-ready programs on the shop floor.

Working with advanced 3-axis, 5-axis and mill-turn machinery, you will develop, simulate, optimise and validate machining strategies for precision-engineered components. You will play a key role in improving manufacturing performance, reducing cycle times and ensuring components are delivered right first time.

This is a highly collaborative position where you'll work closely with machinists, manufacturing engineers and leadership teams, helping to establish and continuously improve machining standards across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimise CNC programs for multi-axis machining centres
Create and validate machining strategies using CAM software and simulation tools
Select cutting tools, workholding solutions and machining methods
Prove out first-off components and support production readiness
Improve cycle times, tooling performance and manufacturing efficiency
Review complex engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications
Support machinists and manufacturing teams with technical expertise
Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the machine shop
Maintain manufacturing documentation and revision control
Support new product introduction from prototype through to full production
Contribute to the development of manufacturing best practice across the organisation

What We're Looking For

Strong CAM programming experience using HyperMill, Mastercam, Siemens NX or similar
Proven experience programming multi-axis CNC machine tools
Background within precision engineering, aerospace, defence or other highly regulated industries
Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding and machining strategies
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
Experience proving out new programs and supporting production teams
Excellent attention to detail and documentation control
Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with wider engineering teams

Desirable Experience

HyperMill programming experience
Simultaneous 5-axis machining
Mill-turn programming
Titanium and nickel-based alloy machining
NC simulation software such as Vericut
Probing and automated pallet systems
Knowledge of AS9100 or EN9100 environments
