AML Analyst
Location: Edinburgh, Hybrid
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000
Job Type: Full Time | Permanent

We're working with a leading professional services organisation in Edinburgh that is looking to appoint an AML Analyst to join its dedicated AML team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in AML, compliance, risk or a related commercial environment to develop their career within a specialist team.

The Role As an AML Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the organisation remains compliant with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, internal policies and procedures.
You will work closely with fee earners, PAs and internal teams, providing guidance on client due diligence and ensuring appropriate checks and documentation are completed.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing client due diligence (CDD) forms and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with AML regulations and internal procedures.

• Challenging information where required and liaising directly with fee earners and PAs to obtain satisfactory responses.

• Managing CDD submissions and responding to correspondence and queries received by the AML team.

• Monitoring clients who do not have appropriate CDD in place and following up to ensure outstanding information is obtained.

• Providing advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on AML and CDD requirements.

• Conducting identity verification, sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse media checks using electronic search systems.

• Monitoring incoming funds to the client account and assessing whether funds are from an acceptable source for AML purposes.

• Liaising with internal teams to resolve queries relating to incoming funds in line with established policies and procedures.

• Preparing and reviewing client and matter risk assessments.

• Reporting unusual or potentially suspicious activity to the MLRO where appropriate.

• Maintaining accurate client and matter information on the organisation's practice management system.

• Assisting with the development and implementation of AML policies, controls and procedures.

• Undertaking other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

Essential Skills & Experience • Excellent analytical and investigative skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage strict deadlines.

• A methodical approach to problem solving.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong customer service skills with the confidence to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

• Ability to use initiative and take responsibility for decisions.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Ability to manage competing priorities within a busy environment.

Desirable Experience • Previous experience within a commercial, legal, banking or financial services environment.

• Experience working within a compliance, risk or regulatory function.

• Previous operational experience of AML compliance.

• Experience working with client due diligence, sanctions, PEP or adverse media checks.
