About the company Randstad are excited to be working with an organisation that specialises in providing therapeutic care for young males with a traumatic background, using an evidence-based approach rooted in the latest guidelines. They operate therapeutic communities that aim to foster pro social skills and independence in their residents. Their services include structured therapeutic interventions alongside education, aiming to rehabilitate and prepare residents for successful community integration.

The Role

In their care environment, employees are grouped into sub-teams and work according to a rolling rota to consistently support and nurture young people.

Each shift is overseen by a Team Leader or Senior, with a team of therapeutic carers-typically six to seven adults-collaborating closely during evenings and weekends, and additional staff present during typical office and school hours.

Key responsibilities include safeguarding and managing boundaries, facilitated by open communication and active relationship-building, which has led to notably low levels of incidents and challenging behaviours.

The role involves varied daily tasks from mentoring and guidance to recreational activities, contributing to the overall well-being and development of the boys. Staff are encouraged to bring diverse skills and openness to new experiences to the team, which includes in-house educational and therapeutic staff, fostering a therapeutic community atmosphere.

This role heavily emphasises relational dynamics and supports the development of staff self-awareness in relation to others.

What you will need

The company welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds and with various experiences.

Individuals with experience in residential childcare will be supported to adapt to the company's unique practices and approach, which may differ from their previous experiences.

Those new to the sector are offered comprehensive training to facilitate their entry into this exciting and varied field, with a clear career progression path.

Candidates are required to have basic English and IT communication skills, suitable for working in a modern environment with teenagers.

Applicants must be over 21 years of age; there is no upper age limit.

Possession of a full driving licence is essential.

Desired qualities include a sense of humour, life skills, broad interests, a fondness for young people, resilience, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities, as these attributes provide a variety of role models for the boys.
