Defence & Advanced Engineering | Permanent | Full TimeAre you an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to take the next step in your career and move into a position with greater technical leadership and responsibility?We’re working with a specialist engineering organisation operating at the forefront of defence and advanced engineering, developing highly technical products and systems for demanding applications.They’re looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer / Electrical Lead Engineer to join their engineering team, providing technical leadership across a team of engineers and technicians while remaining hands‑on with the design and development of innovative products.The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining technical expertise, problem-solving and people leadership.You’ll provide technical direction across a team of engineers and technicians, supporting their development while continuing to play an active role in electrical design and product development.Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, customers and suppliers, you’ll help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership, guidance and direction to engineers and techniciansMentor and support the professional development of engineering team membersLead and contribute to electrical design and product development activitiesManage technical workloads, priorities and engineering requirementsCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teamsLiaise with customers and suppliers on technical mattersSupport product testing, validation and qualification activitiesEnsure engineering processes, procedures and quality standards are maintainedIdentify and drive opportunities for continuous improvementInvestigate and resolve complex technical challengesContribute to the ongoing development of engineering processes and capabilitiesWhat We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for an experienced electrical engineer with a strong technical background and the confidence to provide guidance and leadership to others.You’ll ideally have:A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline5+ years’ engineering experienceStrong electrical engineering and problem-solving capabilitiesA sound understanding of engineering principles, processes and best practiceExperience mentoring, coaching or technically guiding other engineersStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience working with customers and suppliersStrong 3D modelling and simulation capabilitiesKnowledge of relevant engineering standards and processesExcellent organisation and time-management skillsA flexible, proactive approach with a willingness to learn and adopt new engineering techniquesExperience with any of the following would be advantageous:Autodesk InventorAltiumPrevious engineering or technical leadership experienceEnvironmental, shock and vibration testingSystems engineering and the Engineering V-ModelDefence and/or aerospace engineeringISO 9001 / AS9100Product qualification and validationSecurity RequirementsDue to the nature of the work, applicants must be:SC Cleared or eligible and willing to obtain SC security clearancePlease note that security and export-control restrictions may apply.
