London, Edinburgh or Durham | HybridThe OpportunitySpencer Ogden is supporting a leading renewable energy developer in the appointment of a Senior Electrical Engineer to support a growing portfolio of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and Private Wire projects across the UK & Ireland.This is a hands-on engineering position where you'll have genuine technical responsibility across the full project lifecycle - from early-stage development and electrical design through to procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.If you're an Electrical Engineer who wants to influence engineering solutions rather than simply coordinate or review standardised designs, this could be an excellent opportunity.What You'll Be DoingProvide senior electrical engineering support across Solar PV, BESS and Private Wire projectsDevelop electrical solutions, infrastructure and equipment requirements from early development stagesSupport feasibility studies, technical optioneering and project developmentDevelop technical specifications, engineering standards and Employer's RequirementsReview and challenge designs from consultants, contractors and OEMsSupport technical and commercial tender assessments and procurement activitiesProvide technical input throughout construction, commissioning and handoverIdentify engineering risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategiesProvide technical guidance to engineers and project teamsWork across multidisciplinary teams including electrical, civil, mechanical, controls, commercial and project deliveryPotentially provide specialist input across 132kV and 400kV infrastructureWhat We're Looking ForWe're particularly interested in Senior Electrical Engineers with strong hands-on design and engineering experience within renewable energy or electrical infrastructure.You'll ideally have:Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering experienceStrong electrical engineering fundamentals and infrastructure project experienceExperience across Solar PV, BESS or related renewable energy projectsExperience covering multiple project lifecycle stages from development/design through to construction and commissioningKnowledge of HV systems, protection & control, power electronics, SCADA/communications and balance of plantExperience working with consultants, contractors, OEMs and multidisciplinary project teamsStrong understanding of UK electrical standards, regulations and grid requirementsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and influence technical decisionsChartered Engineer status or working towards ChartershipDIgSILENT PowerFactory or other power system modelling experienceFull UK driving licenceWhy Apply?You’ll join an established renewable energy developer working across a growing portfolio of Solar PV and BESS projects, with the opportunity to influence electrical solutions from development through to delivery.This is a great opportunity for an engineer who wants real technical ownership, variety across projects and exposure to the rapidly growing UK renewable energy sector.
