The Role

As a Programme Manager in our UK Defence function you will be part of the Mission Rehearsal team where you will be fully responsible and accountable on the delivery of the Programme vision.

Day to day, you will shape and structure the programme, which will include Integrated planning, Budget and Cost Control, Risk and Issue management, Stakeholder engagement, Commercial management and Quality management.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Ensure resource capacity planning is in place, manage and co-ordinate dependencies to ensure issues are resolved early and ensure the programme benefits are identified and fully understood
  • Working closely with the Portfolio Office to ensure programme controls are in place and accurate and timely performance information is available
  • Proactively, identify and assess risks at programme level, plan and implement responses to those risks and respond to issues that affect the programme
  • Evaluate the performance of projects within the programme to understand the status of the RAG using performance reporting
  • Engage, influence and collaborate with all stakeholders (internal, including Finance, Commercial, People, Enterprise Services, Portfolio Office, Technical & Supply Chain and external), ensuring on-going commitment
  • Lead pre and post contract discussions to shape project scope and collaboratively work with the Commercial function to understand QinetiQ’s contractual rights and obligations

Essential experience of the Programme Manager

  • Recognised expert in job area typically - 10 years working within Project teams leading programmes
  • Applies detailed/in-depth knowledge of programme management, understanding the full project lifecycle
  • Has extensive experience of using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and SAP

Essential qualifications for the Programme Manager

  • APM PMQ, PMI PgMP or AIPM CPPD

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Bristol or Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Please note that you must be able to attend Boscombe Down on a Tuesday and Bristol on a Wednesday.

Boscombe Down

MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight-testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.

Bristol

The QinetiQ facility in Bristol is part of the company’s broader operation focused on defence and technology innovation. The site houses a diverse team of engineers, scientists and technical professionals who bring expertise to various projects ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
