Quality Manager

The Role

As our Quality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and continuously improving the quality standards that underpin our products, processes and reputation. Leading the Quality Team, you will be responsible for driving a culture where quality is at the forefront of everything we do, ensuring compliance with recognised quality standards and supporting operational excellence across the business.

This role exists to safeguard and enhance the effectiveness of our Quality Management Systems, strengthen supplier and customer quality performance and support the delivery of business objectives through robust quality processes and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with colleagues across Production, Engineering, Procurement, Sales and Senior Management to ensure that quality standards are understood, maintained and continuously improved.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical quality expertise with excellent leadership skills and a passion for developing people, solving problems and driving positive change.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management Systems & Compliance

• Lead and manage the Company's Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 compliance, internal audits, external audits and third-party accreditation activities
• Define, maintain and continuously improve quality procedures, standards and specifications
• Ensure quality requirements are effectively communicated and embedded throughout the business
• Support and promote compliance with all relevant quality, regulatory and company requirements
• Act as a key quality representative during customer audits and accreditation visits
• Support the monitoring and implementation of Halal Compliance requirements when required

Supplier, Product & Customer Quality

• Work closely with Procurement to establish and maintain quality requirements for external suppliers
• Manage supplier quality audits and supplier performance monitoring programmes
• Support teams in resolving supplier quality concerns and implementing corrective actions
• Lead investigations into customer complaints and quality issues, ensuring effective root cause analysis and preventative actions
• Monitor and analyse quality performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
• Provide leadership and support for non-conformance management, concession approval, scrap reduction and rework reduction activities
• Support New Product Introduction activities, including defining testing requirements, FMEA activities and production quality assurance requirements

People & Departmental Leadership

• Lead, develop and motivate the Quality Team, creating a positive, accountable and collaborative working environment
• Set clear expectations, objectives and priorities for individuals and the team
• Conduct appraisals, provide regular feedback and support the development of team members
• Manage performance, attendance and conduct matters in partnership with the People & Culture team
• Support recruitment, onboarding and training activities as required
• Ensure mandatory training requirements are completed within agreed timescales
• Act as the key link between the Quality Team and the wider business

Continuous Improvement, Safety & Performance

• Promote a strong culture of quality throughout the organisation
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality performance, efficiency and customer satisfaction
• Monitor and report on quality KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
• Promote problem-solving techniques and quality improvement tools across the business
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and promote a positive safety culture
• Support business improvement projects and operational objectives through effective quality leadership

This role is primarily site-based, working 37.5 hours per week, with standard hours of 08:30-17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:30-14:30 on Fridays. Flexibility to work from home may be agreed where appropriate and in line with business needs.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and people-focused quality professional who enjoys leading others, improving processes and driving high standards across a manufacturing environment. You will be equally comfortable analysing data, leading audits, solving complex quality issues and developing your team to achieve excellent results.

Essential Requirements:

• Significant experience within a Quality function in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrable experience managing Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001
• Previous people management, supervisory or leadership experience
• Experience conducting appraisals, providing feedback and managing performance
• Strong understanding of quality improvement methodologies and problem-solving tools such as SPC, FMEA and Root Cause Analysis
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety and operational compliance requirements

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Engineering, Science or a related business discipline
• Experience working within GMP, regulated or process-based manufacturing environments
• Experience managing supplier quality programmes and supplier audits
• Experience supporting new product introduction projects
• Lead Auditor or quality-related professional qualifications
