Transport Administrator - 6 Month FTC minimum

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established manufacturing organisation with the recruitment of a Transport Administrator to join the team, initially for a 6 month fixed term contract, but they are constantly expanding and there may be the potential for a permanent role.

This is what you'll be doing:

Working closely with the Transport Manager, drivers, Warehouse/Dispatch teams, customers and external transport providers, the Transport Administrator will help coordinate transport activity, maintain accurate records and ensure relevant teams and customers are kept informed of delivery progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Transport Manager and wider Transport function.
• Process and maintain accurate transport, delivery and dispatch information across SAP, spreadsheets and internal systems.
• Create and maintain daily dispatch lists, ensuring relevant order and delivery information is accurately recorded and communicated.
• Book customer collection and delivery slots, coordinating requirements with customers, internal teams and external transport providers.
• Allocate and update transport jobs within internal systems, ensuring delivery information and requirements remain accurate and up to date.
• Prepare and process relevant transport and delivery documentation, including delivery notes, Proof Of Delivery (POD) and associated dispatch paperwork.
• Act as a key point of contact for delivery and transport queries, liaising with customers, drivers, internal teams and external transport providers regarding ETAs, delays or changes to planned deliveries.
• Monitor active deliveries and communicate any delays, exceptions or changes to the appropriate internal teams and customers.
• Liaise closely with Warehouse and Dispatch teams to ensure orders and loads are prepared in line with planned collection and delivery requirements.
• Produce and maintain daily and weekly transport reports and KPI information, ensuring management has accurate information on transport activity and performance.
• Manage shared Transport inboxes, responding to enquiries and ensuring actions are appropriately prioritised or escalated.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within Transport Administration, Logistics Administration, Dispatch, Customer Service or a similar role.
• Strong administration and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicating via telephone and email with customers, colleagues and external providers.
• Comfortable working within a busy environment and managing multiple priorities.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Previous experience using SAP or another ERP/transport system would be advantageous but is not essential.
