SoBold is a high-performance, WordPress website design and development agency based in London. We have gone from strength to strength since our inception in 2014 and we are now looking for another ambitious Junior Front End Developer to join our growing team.
Some of our best developers began their careers at SoBold as junior and have now progressed to become seniors and leading figures within the team. We are looking for a junior developer who is eager to follow that trend.
Whilst some previous commercial experience is advantageous, it is not required. Instead, we’re looking for a candidate who can show themselves to be a self-starter and can demonstrate a willingness to learn. We’d like to see a portfolio of commercial, freelance or test projects to showcase your ability to learn and progress.
In this role, you will work closely with other Front and Back End WordPress Web Developers and will report directly to our Technical Director. You should be confident and willing to bring innovative ideas to the table.
What does a day as a junior developer at SoBold look like?
Collaborating with the team on projects - discussing best practices and how to make sure code is maintainable
Working with HTML, SCSS and JavaScript and being responsible for your code
Tackling new coding challenges and discussing with the team to find the best solutions
Peer reviewing code from members of the team paying particular attention to details to ensure code is accurately representing the design
Discussing projects with designers to fully understand the requirements of the client as well as the reasoning behind the design
Ensuring projects are ready for the pushing live process - checking them both pre and post migration
Enjoying pizza with the team after a successfully completed project!
We'll need you to have...
Proficiency in HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
Experience with basic PHP.
Experience with WordPress.
Experience with responsive design.
Good problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
If you don't currently have these technical skills but like the idea of working at SoBold as a junior developer, we'll need you to have learned the basics and demonstrate these on your portfolio before we can consider your application.
It would be great if you also had...
Basic knowledge of GIT-based workflows.
Experience with custom post types, Gutenberg and the Advanced Custom Fields plugin.
Understanding of SEO principles.
