Job Title: Junior Design Engineer Location: Crawley Employment Type : Permanent Shift: Monday - Friday 08:45 - 17:15 Salary: £28-£32k DOE Essential Qualifications & Skills Mechanical Engineering degree (preferably BEng or MEng - Mechanical based rather than BSc Product Design / Manufacturing Design etc.)Some experience of a Design Software (e.g. 2D: AutoCAD, 3D: Inventor, Solid Works, Solid Edge, Catia or equivalent) (our operational CAD system is Inventor Suite - with 3D: Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD)Ability to work displaying organisation, enthusiasm & own initiativeMulti-task with simultaneous projects meeting tight cost and time restraints (often a week or less)Computer literate (Word, Excel - intermediate level)Good communication skills (both written and verbal)Must speak clear fluent English (including technical vocabulary)Full UK manual driving license Beneficial Qualifications & Skills Experience of a Design Software (e.g. 2D: AutoCAD, 3D: Inventor/Solid WorksOur operational CAD system is Inventor Suite 2021: Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD)Knowledge of / qualifications in / experience with an Electrical disciplineRecent experience of design engineering work (not just reverse engineering or project management)Understanding in the construction of BOMs (Bills of Material) - mechanical.Foreign language ability Training Extensive training is provided for all staff. To be an integral part of the Engineering team starting to work under own initiative
Taking the standard production folders, working from the order acknowledgement, technical specification and relevant quotation details to create the required documentation to construct a UV/IR/LED system
Mechanical and light Electrical design of the full range of UV/IR/LED drying equipment
Begin to offer creative thinking to reduce cost
Visit to customer’s sites both in the UK and overseas as necessary to gain relevant information
Understanding the customers’ requirements to ensure the fan, water, ducting and cabling requirements are communicated clearly
Responsibility for the control and issuing of routine production orders
Create detailed BOMs enabling Purchasing and Production to purchase and build the UV/IR/LED systems
Work within set processes and ensure continuity of BOM structures and flow of information
Checking that the mechanical and electrical parts are of the latest specification and meet the requirements of the system ordered
Record information in a logical manner
Maintain a well-organised working area
Controlling the issue level on BOMs within our MRP software, ensuring these follow the agreed descriptor control procedures and methodology accordingly
Liaising with suppliers to obtain quotations using detailed drawings released within the Vault (Engineering Data Management System)
Using Inventor/AutoCAD Computer Aided Design system to produce 2D and 3D drawings of parts and assemblies using approved parts
Respond quickly to internal and external customer requests
Provision of technical support to customers and internal sales/service departments. This may be by telephone, fax, e-mail, and, where required, hands on in the factory or on site in the UK/worldwide
A commitment to knowledge sharing and cross skills training and a general appreciation of the need to eliminate single point failure
Must be able to effectively communicate and assist production with questions relating to released systems
