Field Service Engineer

Altera Recruitment Group is supporting an innovative engineering business in the appointment of a Field Service Engineer to support customers across the Midlands, South Wales and the South Coast.

The business helps customers move away from traditional solvent and chemical cleaning processes towards safer and more sustainable alternatives.

The Field Service Engineer will play an important role in keeping equipment operating reliably while providing a professional service and building strong relationships with customers.

Based from the company's Head Office in Maidenhead, the role involves regular travel, predominantly across Birmingham, the wider Midlands, South Wales and the South Coast, particularly Dorset. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working independently on the road and responding to changing customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer

  • Carry out planned servicing, routine maintenance, basic fault finding and minor repairs at customer sites.
  • Complete service records, paperwork and job documentation accurately, reporting equipment faults and repair requirements promptly.
  • Follow customer site rules, health and safety procedures and company working practices at all times.
  • Provide a professional and courteous service while representing the business on customer premises.
  • Support collections, deliveries, equipment preparation and other practical duties when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in field service, maintenance, engineering, facilities, manufacturing or another practical customer facing role would be beneficial.
  • Practical mechanical, electrical or basic engineering knowledge is desirable, although full training will be provided.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and use good judgement.
  • Reliable, organised and hardworking, with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake regular UK wide travel.
