Job Description

Learning Support Assistant
SEN School, Andover
September start

Academics are recruiting on behalf of a residential SEN school in Andover which caters for young people aged 11-19 years with Autism or who have strong emotional / behavioural traits of the Autistic Spectrum, typically high functioning Autism (Asperger Syndrome) and other associated needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and social, emotional and mental health needs. All young people in the school will have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
They are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join them on a full-time, possible temp to perm supply contract starting in September. Due to the rural location in Grately/Andover, this would be suited to a Learning Support Assistant who drives/has access to own car.

Working hours, term-time only - £14.24 per hour
Mon and Thurs 8.30am - 4.30pm
Tues and Fri 8.30am - 4pm
Wednesday 8.30am - 5pm

The successful Learning Support Assistant will be required to support pupils across the school in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Although experience of working in an SEN school would be an advantage, this is not essential. What is needed is an understanding, empathetic and calm Teaching Assistant who is able to build positive relationships and be able to support the teacher in meeting the individual needs of the students, in line with their individualised learning and care plans. These plans allow each student to have access to a challenging, broad, relevant and differentiated curriculum that is designed to be Asperger Syndrome friendly.
The main school building is a large country house set in 8 acres of grounds which provide a beautiful and secure setting for outdoor activities. Ideally suited to a driver due to the rural location.
To be considered for this position, you MUST have Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) Grades C or above or Grades 4 - 9.
If you are a Learning Support Assistant who is seeking a full-time position to start in September and live in the Grateley/Andover area please apply with a copy of your updated CV.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
