Part time Accounts Assistant
Cardiff
I am recruiting on behalf of an SME business, based in Cardiff. They are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team on a 6-month temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business and support the Group Financial Controller and Finance Manager with the day to day transactions of the business.
The role will primarily start with basic tasks and over time hopefully will evolve, with the successful candidate taking responsibility of the monthly accounts. This will include both day to day transactions as well as period end management reporting.
Reporting into the Finance Manager, and with a dotted line to the Group Financial Controller the role is required to maintain the day-to-day financial demands of the business whilst also taking a holistic view of the processes needed to deliver these requirements.
Main duties and responsibilities to include -
Maintenance of the day to day transactional accounting for the business, including but not limited to AP, AR, fixed assets, provisions and accruals
Posting invoices, journals, and other monthly processing
Responsible for raising and tracking purchase orders
Management of bank payments
Assist in the delivery of group financial accounting including monthly reporting, monthly forecasting, budget preparation, VAT returns, and sales reporting
Assist with basic audit requests
Manage staff expenses
Dealing with foreign currencies
Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
Fixed Asset register
Any other tasks as and when required by the senior management team
Intermediate Excel skills
Xero experience highly advantageous
The role will ideally suit an AAT studier or Part-Qualified Accountant that is looking for part-time employment to fit in around family commitments. My client would also consider applications from candidates that have worked within a similar role previously and possess a strong technical accounting background.
You will be a self-starter who is happy to muck in as often is required within a small start-up business, and possess a positive attitude. My client is looking for someone to work ideally 3-4 days per week and can be flexible with start / finish times. Initially, whilst training the role will be office based. Once you are up and running, then hybrid work will be on offer, approximately 1-2 days in the office maximum.
