Senior Optical Systems Engineer

My client is looking for a Senior Optical Systems Engineer, focused on fibre optic sub-system development. As a Senior Optical Systems Engineer would cover high-power optical amplifiers and photonic systems. This is an exciting opportunity across R&D, prototyping and early-stage production.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of fibre-optic sub-systems, including high-power optical amplifiersManage small project teams and deliver programmes on time and within budgetWork across multidisciplinary teams including optical, mechanical and electronic engineeringSupport prototype build, assembly and testing of fibre-optic and opto-electronic systemsCarry out fibre splicing, system integration and lab-based validationDevelop and execute test plans for functional and environmental verificationEngage directly with customers on specifications, results and technical directionDeliver technical reviews and produce clear project documentationBuild internal collaboration across engineering and commercial teamsRequirementsDegree or PhD in Physics, Engineering or related field with optics or photonics focusIndustry experience in optics, photonics or fibre-optic systemsExperience developing fibre-optic or laser-based productsStrong knowledge of optical amplifiers and fibre-optic technologiesHands-on experience building and testing optical or opto-electronic systemsExperience leading projects or small teamsAbility to manage technical and commercial aspects of development workStrong communication skills with experience presenting to customers
