Logistics Coordinator - Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a Logistics Coordinator with pharmaceutical supply chain or logistics experience to join a growing European operation at a point of real expansion.

You will gain broader exposure across international pharmaceutical logistics, regulated distribution, freight forwarding, import/export processes and controlled-substance movements, while working closely with an experienced logistics team. The role offers strong development potential and, although initially a 6-month fixed term contract, there is a strong possibility of the position becoming permanent.

The situation

The business is expanding its European operation following an acquisition, with increasing product volumes and a growing network of manufacturing partners. The Logistics Coordinator will provide hands-on operational support while helping strengthen and document logistics processes across the European network.

There is particular emphasis on inbound and outbound European logistics, especially road transport, alongside some air and sea freight. You will also be involved in cross-border movements, freight-forwarder coordination and ensuring the right import/export and compliance documentation is available at the right time.

The role

As Logistics Coordinator, you will be supported and become responsible for:

  • Coordinating inbound and outbound pharmaceutical shipments
  • Booking and tracking deliveries across Europe
  • Liaising with freight forwarders, customs brokers and 3PL providers
  • Supporting import/export and customs processes
  • Ensuring the correct shipping and compliance documentation is in place
  • Obtaining quotations and supporting route risk assessments
  • Maintaining GDP, GMP, customs and logistics documentation
  • Supporting transport validation, audits and regulatory inspections
  • Assisting with investigations into logistics deviations or non-compliance
  • Gathering logistics performance data and supporting KPI reporting
  • Assisting with invoice tracking, spend analysis and logistics budget monitoring
  • Working closely with supply chain and internal stakeholders to ensure shipments are delivered accurately and on time.

Some shipments involve controlled substances or narcotics, adding an additional level of complexity around licences, documentation and timing. Direct controlled-substance experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

What you will need

The successful Logistics Coordinator will need:

  • Around 3 years experience within pharmaceutical supply chain or pharmaceutical logistics
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is essential
  • Practical experience coordinating inbound and outbound shipments
  • Experience working within a regulated GDP environment
  • Understanding of European import/export, customs and distribution processes
  • Experience dealing with freight forwarders, logistics providers or 3PLs
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • The ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines
  • A proactive approach and willingness to continue developing your logistics knowledge
