Multi-Skilled Engineer

Job Description

Contract Personnel are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established local food processing plant, who are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with an electrical bias to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, supporting production through effective maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement.

The Role:

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining site equipment, ensuring production efficiency and upholding high standards of food safety, GMP and Health & Safety.

Key responsibilities include:

Championing and maintaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards across the site

Fault finding and troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical and control systems

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on machinery

Monitoring and optimising production processes to maximise efficiency and performance

Responding promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime

Accurately recording maintenance activities and equipment performance

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives

Promoting and ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures

Undertaking additional duties as required to support business objectives

About you:

Recognised qualifications or certifications in multi-skilled engineering

Proven engineering experience within a food manufacturing environment

Experience working with PLC systems and automation

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and control systems maintenance

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Flexible approach to shift work, including rotating shifts and weekend cover

Positive, proactive and reliable

Methodical, organised and safety-focused

Able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing production environment

Resilient and adaptable with a strong work ethic

Full-time, permanent

Monday to Friday;

1 week earlies 6am – 2:30pm

1 week lates 2pm – 10:30pm
