Network Engineer

Job Description

I'm recruiting on behalf of a client delivering critical infrastructure in a secure environment. Active SC & DV clearance is essential with no exceptions, and we can't sponsor or upgrade from SC.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site only Network Engineer role based in Samlesbury starting at 3 days a week on site. The Network Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructures that support our client's needs. Daily responsibilities include configuring network devices, monitoring performance, resolving connectivity issues, and optimizing network reliability and throughput. The role also involves collaborating with security and operations teams to align network architecture with compliance requirements and client needs. The Network Engineer will document configurations and procedures, contribute to continuous improvement, and support incident response when network-related issues arise.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Network Engineering and Network Design to architect, deploy, and scale secure, high-availability networks.
  • Hands‑on experience with Network Administration and Troubleshooting to manage devices, monitor performance, and promptly resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of Network Security principles and practices to safeguard infrastructure and support cybersecurity and compliance initiatives.
  • Familiarity with routing and switching technologies, firewalls, VPNs, and VLANs in multi-site or hybrid environments.
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP-based solutions, log analysis platforms).
  • Ability to work on-site in Preston, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent experience. Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

This is a contract role Outside IR35.
