We use the latest large language models combined with our award-winning semantic technology to enable discovery within large volumes of unstructured data. About the RoleAs a Software Engineer, you will work with senior engineers to develop and maintain Python-based data solutions that integrate dynamic sources of scientific information and make them accessible to customers. You will contribute to AI-enabled development practices, collaborate with teams across Elsevier, and help deliver production-ready data products that support discovery from large volumes of unstructured data.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and develop our critical Python data pipelinesSupport curation teams to update and build new vocabularies and ontologiesProvide support to deliver and maintain customer-facing solutions as requiredDevelop software to assist manual curation effortsDevelop and maintain automations across the estateLearn about the wider Elsevier business and identify potential collaborationsRequirementsExperience in software development ideally PythonExcellent teamwork and problem-solving skilsBSc/MSc/PhD in life sciences or STEM fields Beneficial If you have experience with the following:Experience working with pytest/unittest and code reviewsProficient UNIX/command line skillsExperience with version control, ideally GitHubExperience with cloud environmentsPython GUI development experienceExperience working with ontologies or XMLKnowledge of SQLKnowledge of compute clusters and workflow managementExperience working in a production environmentWork in a Way That Works for YouWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
