Trainee Maintenance Engineer

£31,000 per annum | 39 hours per week | Permanent | Full-Time

Vanta Staffing are currently recruiting for a Trainee Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing facility in Princes Risborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional looking to develop their maintenance skills and build a long-term career within a manufacturing environment.

Working alongside an experienced Lead Engineer, you will receive hands-on training while supporting the maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement of production equipment.

The Role

As a Trainee Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of production machinery
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) as scheduled
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential faults, safety risks or deterioration in performance
  • Assist with logical fault finding and corrective maintenance
  • Maintain accurate machine maintenance records and logs
  • Support the Maintenance & Facilities team with various tasks
  • Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to minimise downtime
  • Ensure equipment is safely returned to production following maintenance
  • Complete appropriate risk assessments before carrying out maintenance work
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and Risk Assessments
  • Identify opportunities for machine, process and maintenance improvements
  • Develop engineering knowledge through practical training, workshops and on-the-job learning
  • Support a culture of Continuous Improvement within the Maintenance team

Technical Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have an engineering or mechanical background, with some experience or understanding of:

  • Engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering training
  • Reading electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Logical and structured fault finding
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Pneumatics
  • Inverter, servo and DC drives
  • Electrical circuits ranging from 415V to 24VDC
  • Basic fabrication
  • Facilities/Maintenance environments
  • Maintenance best practice and Continuous Improvement

Not every skill is essential at trainee level, but candidates should have a strong engineering foundation and a genuine willingness to learn and develop.
