Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

Maintenance Engineer- £56,000 (Monday to Friday)

We’re looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join an automated factory in Desford, working Monday to Friday on a 10-hour day shift pattern.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer looking for excellent earning potential, no weekends, no bank holiday working and genuine career development.

The hours

You’ll work a rotating two-week pattern:

  • Week 1:06:00–16:00
  • Week 2:08:00–18:00
  • Monday to Friday
  • 10-hour shifts

The money

The basic contract rate is £17.16 per hour (40 hours), with additional hours paid at £25.74 per hour (10 hours).

Based on the standard 40 hours plus 10 hours at the enhanced rate, earnings are approximately:

  • Weekly: £943.80

  • Yearly: £49,077 (basic salary)
  • With average bonus £56,000

The bonus is linked to the amount of product stacked in the yard — essentially, the more product the factory produces and stacks, the bigger the bonus. The average weekly production bonus paid to maintenance staff so far this year is £137.21.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a hands-on maintenance engineer with a mechanical bias.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • A background in heavy industry or manufacturing would be ideal, although this isn’t essential
  • The ability and willingness to work across both mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to work in a busy, automated environment
