Due to continued growth and the development of new products, our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical/electronic engineer to play a key role in the design and development of electrical systems, supporting new product development and the expansion of the existing product range.

The Role

Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical and electronic systems, supporting new product development and ensuring designs meet the required technical, regulatory and safety standards.

Duties will include

Designing electrical schematics, wiring harnesses and panel layouts

Producing technical documentation, drawings, parts lists and work instructions

Carrying out design analysis, simulations and testing to validate electrical systems

Selecting and specifying electrical and electronic components

Working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to develop practical electrical solutions

Liaising with PLC Software Engineers on control strategies for powertrain and driveline systems

Supporting the development of new products and expansion of the existing product range

Designing and supporting electrical testing methods to ensure product quality

Providing technical engineering support and troubleshooting where required

Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, electrical standards and safety requirements

Maintaining compliance with the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System

Following all company Health & Safety procedures

Essential Criteria

HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or relevant engineering experience

Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in a similar electrical design engineering role

Previous experience designing electrical schematics using recognised design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or EPLAN

Experience working with electrified vehicle powertrain systems and/or off-road electrical systems

Ability to read, interpret and create detailed electrical drawings

Strong knowledge of current electrical regulations and design standards

Experience drafting electrical designs to recognised electrical standards

Strong technical drawing skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider engineering team
