Job Description

Are you an experienced automotive professional seeking a rewarding career opportunity? Our client, an established automotive dealership in Chelmsford, Essex, is looking to appoint a highly skilled Workshop Controller to oversee their busy service department. This is an excellent chance for a motivated individual to join a reputable organisation committed to quality service and customer satisfaction. The Workshop Controller will play a crucial role in managing workshop operations, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining high standards of vehicle repair and servicing.

Benefits:

Competitive salary of up to £50,000 per annum

Monday to Friday working hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, plus a 1 in 3 Saturday rota, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

Coordinate daily workshop activities to ensure efficient vehicle processing

Allocate work to technicians based on skills, experience, and workload

Monitor progress of repairs and services to ensure deadlines are met

Liaise with the Aftersales Manager regarding workshop capacity and operational issues

Communicate regularly with customers, providing updates and managing expectations

Oversee job card administration and workshop documentation for accuracy

Ensure all work is completed to quality standards before vehicle release

Collaborate with the Parts Department to maintain necessary parts and resources

Support health and safety procedures within the workshop environment

Monitor technician productivity and support continuous process improvements

Assist the Aftersales Manager in maintaining an organised, efficient, and customer-focused workshopRequirements of a Workshop Controller:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role, such as Workshop Controller, Service Advisor, or Senior Technician

Strong understanding of vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs

Excellent organisational and time-management abilities

Effective communication skills with colleagues and customers

Capable of prioritising multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality standards

Proactive problem-solving approach
