We work on all types of plant and boilers from 1,000MWe power units to 100MW gas-fired boilers. Our knowledge base covers all types of fuels and all firing systems. We are also very active within the biomass and Energy from Waste markets where we resolve issues encountered in bubbling bed combustors/gasifiers and grate combustion units. Through steady expansion, RJM has grown its expertise, technical ability, and knowledge to provide clients with a wide range of engineering-based products and consulting services. From our Head Office in Winchester, we also provide support to our offices in Singapore, Malaysia and the USA, and there are opportunities to work in these regions. About the Job: We are looking for an ambitious Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. If you have a strong background in CAD programs such as SolidWorks, Inventor and AutoCAD and proven industry experience, an analytical approach to problem solving and an interest in combustion and emissions, please get in touch. You will work within a team to develop the product design details and use manufacturing knowledge to produce engineering drawings and information. You will also work with our supply chain to ensure it is delivered to cost, time and quality. Your skill, insight and ingenuity will directly shape RJM’s involvement in various projects resulting in improved operational efficiency and emissions reduction. Key Responsibilities Follows/lead plans, and directions for the mechanical/technical design of products as well as cost and administrative requirements Preparation of Key Component and Parts lists Lead/assist in preparation of the manufacturing schedule Liaises with selected contractors during product manufacture Prepares reports on manufacturing status and advises on the impact of changes or additional works Prepares design calculations, sizing and selection of components ensuring compliance with contract requirements Interfaces with the project team to coordinate all design details Ensures compliance to RJM’s QMS procedures Records engineering changes to the product, and communicates them to the supply chain as necessary Prepares installation instructions for construction sub-contractors to erect supplied equipment From time to time assist with hands on diagnostic testing, data collection onsite Lead/assist with design proposals, presentations for sales opportunities Lead/assist with the post contract review process Knowledge, Skills and Educational Requirements If this role is of interest, but you do not meet all the criteria, please still get in contact. We would be interested to see what you can offer.Required: HNC, HND or Degree Standard in Mechanical, Structural or Production Engineering Prior experience must include significant engineering to small and medium sized projects Demonstrated ability to understand the design process, schedules, and supply chain interface Strong computer skills including demonstrated experience in the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks, Microsoft Word & Excel. Action-oriented engineer with demonstrated ability to accomplish objectives Strong, organised skill set with demonstrated ability to manage details Ability to interface at all relevant levels within the RJM Organisation, with good communication skills capable of developing strong supply chain relationship Good knowledge of Microsoft office and applications such as Word, Excel etc Chartered Engineer status, or working towards Chartered Engineer Advantageous: Technical knowledge, experience of structural steel, ducting, product design, welding, fabrication, castings and piping.
