Consett location

Salary of £31,746.00–£33,862.40 per annum, depending on skills and experience (£16.50–£17.60 per hour)

25% shift premium after successful completion of probation

37 hours per week

Two-shift rotation:

Day shift: Monday to Thursday, 06:00–14:00; Friday, 06:00–13:30

Back shift: Monday to Wednesday, 13:45–23:45; Thursday, 13:45–22:45

Overtime rates applicable

Pension with 3% company contribution

25 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays

Cycle to Work Scheme

Travel/radius allowance based on commuting miles

Based in Consett, our client is an engineering and manufacturing business specialising in bespoke manufacturing and repair work. Working to customer designs, specifications and engineering drawings, the business handles a varied range of components and requirements, including repair work assessed against drawings or incoming component inspections.

THE ROLE

Support the production team within the CNC machine shop, programming and operating Mazak 200Y, Mazak 300Y and Mazak J300 5-axis turn/mill centres

Produce components to engineering drawings, instructions and agreed production deadlines

Machine components to general tolerances of approximately ±0.1mm

Carry out final machining to tight tolerances of 0.02mm

Undertake turning and milling work to the required specifications and tolerances THE PERSON

Time-served CNC Turner with experience of Mazak programming (essential)

Experience working within an engineering or production environment

Able to read and interpret engineering drawings (essential)

Good organisational skills and the ability to meet production deadlines

Good verbal and written communication skills

Experience working with tolerances and both metric and imperial measurements is beneficial

Knowledge of geometric tolerances is advantageous

Flexible approach and an understanding of delivery pressures, particularly when customers require urgent support during breakdown situations TO APPLY
