Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a permanent opportunity in Aylesbury?
We are looking for a caring, committed and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant, Aylesbury to join a specialist educational setting, supporting children and young people with additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in SEN and make a genuine difference to pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Aylesbury, you will provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils engage with learning while developing their confidence, communication and independence. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a calm, structured and nurturing environment, adapting your approach to meet individual pupil needs.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or another relevant support setting. You should be patient, consistent and compassionate, with the ability to build positive relationships and remain calm when faced with challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
Supporting pupils with learning, communication and independence
Working alongside teaching staff to deliver individualised support strategies
Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing
Helping create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
Supporting pupils with transitions and daily routines
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Adapting support according to individual learning and communication needs
The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will Have
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support
A patient, caring and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to remain calm and professional when situations become challenging
A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively
The ability to adapt support to meet individual needs
A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their potential
