Quality Engineer

Job Description

Location: Cambridge, UK Type: Permanent, Full-time Team: Quality, Engineering & Manufacturing Environment: Precision Manufacturing / High Technology About the Company Our client is an innovative technology business operating within a precision manufacturing environment, developing high-performance products for the communications industry. The Opportunity This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer to have a genuine influence on product, process and system quality across the business. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain teams, you will help identify improvement opportunities, resolve complex quality challenges and embed a stronger quality-led culture across the organisation. The role offers significant scope to contribute to new product introduction, continuous improvement and quality systems while working with innovative technology in a precision manufacturing environment. The Role As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in driving quality performance across the business. You will lead root cause investigations, develop corrective and preventive actions, analyse quality data and work with teams across the organisation to deliver sustainable improvements. You will also support new product introduction and validation activities, quality management systems, internal audits and change management. The role is highly collaborative, requiring someone who can work confidently with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Operations while providing practical quality guidance. Key Responsibilities Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions using recognised quality methodologies Analyse quality data and performance trends to identify improvement opportunities Drive continuous improvement initiatives across product and manufacturing processes Work with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to improve product quality, process capability and reliability Support new product introduction and validation activities Participate in risk assessment and mitigation activities Support the development and effectiveness of the Quality Management System Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and relevant regulatory, customer and business requirements Support internal audit activities and drive actions arising from audit findings Support change management and ensure effective implementation of changes Investigate internal, supplier and customer quality concerns Monitor corrective actions and verify that improvements are sustainable Develop and report quality KPIs and make recommendations to management Provide quality guidance across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Operations Build strong relationships across the business and act as an advocate for quality excellence About You We're looking for a Quality Engineer with experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or technology-based environment. You'll need a strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO9001, alongside practical experience of root cause investigation, corrective actions and continuous improvement methodologies such as 8D, RCA, RCCA and FMEA. You should be analytical, highly organised and confident working with a range of stakeholders. The ability to communicate technical quality issues clearly and influence teams to implement sustainable improvements will be particularly important. Essential Skills & Experience Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience Experience in a Quality Engineer role within a manufacturing, engineering or technology-based environment Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO9001 Experience leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions Working knowledge of 8D, RCA, RCCA, FMEA and continuous improvement techniques Ability to interpret engineering proposals Experience analysing and interpreting data to support decision-making Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills High level of attention to detail Good awareness of Health & Safety practices Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders Proficient in Microsoft Office Desirable Experience Internal Auditor qualification Experience of ISO27001 requirements Knowledge of RoHS, REACH and SCIP regulations Experience within electronics, telecommunications, optical technologies or other high-technology manufacturing environments Experience using statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP Knowledge of manufacturing process controls and validation activities Why Join?
