About Holmes Sweet Home
Holmes Sweet Home is a busy, vibrant independent cafe, dessert and licensed bar in the heart of Holmes Chapel.
We have a loyal local following and a wonderfully varied customer base. We work hard, have fun and take pride in creating a warm, welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the door.
The role
Were looking for a confident, hands on Assistant Manager who can lead from the front.
Youll work closely with the owner, another Assistant Manager and our wider team. Youll be supported, but trusted to take responsibility, make decisions and keep the business running smoothly.
You wont manage from the sidelines. Youll lead busy shifts while working alongside the team across the coffee bar, customer areas, licensed bar and wider operation.
What youll do
Lead shifts and keep the team focused, motivated and organised
Deploy the team effectively as priorities change
Produce consistently excellent coffee at pace
Maintain high standards across drinks, food, desserts and customer service
Train, coach and support team members
Open and close the business, including cashing up
Handle customer queries and resolve problems confidently
Support rota planning, stock control, ordering and waste management
Maintain excellent cleanliness, food-safety and health-and-safety standards
Support licensing compliance and company procedures
Help improve sales, service and operational efficiency
What youll need
Strong professional barista experience
Experience supervising or leading a busy hospitality team
Confidence working behind a licensed bar and preparing standard alcoholic drinks
The ability to think quickly and remain calm under pressure
A natural ability to spot what needs doing and take action
Excellent customer-service and communication skills
A friendly, supportive and confident leadership style
Reliability, organisation and strong attention to detail
A genuinely hands-on approach
Cocktail experience would be an advantage, but further training will be provided.
Kitchen experience is not essential because we can teach you our menu and processes. You will need a genuine interest in food, a flair for presentation and the confidence to learn quickly.
Pay and tips
Your starting rate will reflect your experience and demonstrated capability. The upper end of the range is available to candidates with stronger leadership experience, commercial awareness and the ability to take significant responsibility from the outset.
Full-time team members currently receive approximately £250 per month in tips on average . Based on current tip levels, expected total earnings are approximately £29,000 to £33,000 per year . Tips vary and are not guaranteed.
Youll be paid hourly, so any additional hours worked are paid on top. Additional hours may be available depending on the needs of the business.

Working pattern
This is a full-time hospitality position and includes weekend working. Youll need to be flexible across the businesss trading hours.
