As part of Ensera, we collaborate globally with contract manufacturing facilities in Europe, the USA, and Asia.We are currently seeking both Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers to join our talented team across embedded Linux, microcontroller (MCU) and Test disciplines.Whether you're looking to develop your expertise alongside experienced mentors or take a technical leadership role on complex medical device projects, we have opportunities to match your experience and ambitions.This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team developing a greenfield medical device from the ground up. You’ll have a team of Senior Software Engineers around you who’ll mentor you throughout.Due to the nature of Ensera Design’s work, you’ll have the opportunity to branch out into other specialisms or go deeper into the one you’re already in.About the rolesDepending on your background, your primary focus will be in one of these main areas:Software Engineer (Linux) - Software Engineer (Linux) | Careers with Ensera DesignDesigning and implementing software on embedded Linux platforms using C/C++Contributing to build systems (e.g Yocto)Defining interfaces across hardware and software subsystems.Senior Software Engineer (Linux) - Senior Software Engineer – Linux | Careers with Ensera DesignLeading the design and implementation of embedded Linux software using modern C/C++Defining system architecture, interfaces and software design approaches across complex productsContributing to build systems and deployment pipelines, including Yocto-based environmentsProviding technical leadership and mentoring to software engineers across project teamsWorking closely with electronics, mechanical, UX and systems engineers throughout the development lifecycleSoftware Engineer (MCU) - Software Engineer (MCU) | Careers with Ensera DesignDeveloping embedded C/C++ targeting STM32 ARM microcontrollersDesigning and implementing MCU firmwareSupporting subsystems and collaborating with hardware, linux, UI and test teamsSenior Software Engineer (MCU) - Senior Software Engineer – MCU | Careers with Ensera DesignLeading firmware architecture, design and implementation using Embedded C/C++Driving software development on ARM-based microcontroller platforms, including STM32 devicesMaking key technical decisions around system design, performance and reliabilityCollaborating with hardware, Linux, UI, test and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated productsMentoring engineers and championing software quality, maintainability and engineering best practiceSoftware Engineer (Test) - Software Engineer (Test) | Careers with Ensera DesignBuilding structured testing strategies and processes for embedded systems and shaping the automation approach as it takes shape.Work closely with the embedded, Linux, UI and connectivity teams to ensure code is testablePython and/or C++ development experienceAbout youYou enjoy working on and improving complex safety-critical systems. You’ll have a good understanding of either Linux, MCU or test engineering and care about writing clean, reliable code. You’ll be a strong collaborator and communicator who’s happy to work closely with developers. You’ll also be interested in the full development lifecycle and in working to standards like IEC 62304.Your skills and experienceWhilst you do not need to meet all of these points, please ensure you meet the majority within your specialism before making an application.EssentialAround 3–5 years’ experience in embedded software developmentStrong C and/or C++ skillsSolid understanding of hardware–software interfaces, embedded architectures, or test automation frameworksExperience with system-level integration, debugging, or verificationFor Senior Engineer positions, you'll also bring experience leading technical workstreams, influencing architecture decisions and mentoring other engineers. You'll be comfortable balancing hands-on development with technical leadership responsibilities and helping teams deliver high-quality, compliant software solutions.SalaryFor these roles we are considering salaries of up to £53,000 (or up to £73,954 for Senior Engineers).
