Support Worker – Children's Home, St Albans Be part of something extraordinary. Help young people live gloriously ordinary lives.
At MacIntyre, we believe every young person deserves choice, connection, purpose and possibility, every single day.
We're looking for a Support Worker to join our children's home in St Albans, supporting four young people with learning disabilities to live happy, meaningful, gloriously ordinary lives.
This is a full-time role, covering early shifts (7am to 3pm), late shifts (2pm to 10pm) and alternate weekends.
No two days are the same You'll get to know the young people you support, really know them, and help them do the things that matter most.
One day might be getting ready for school, a trip to the shops, or seeing friends at the park. The next could be baking, playing games, a film night, or a day out somewhere new.
You'll help build confidence, independence and life skills, while supporting everyday routines like cooking, household tasks, personal care and medication. And you'll help create connections in the local community, those small, "heart-singing" moments that turn an ordinary day into something amazing.
You don't need experience, just the right attitude No previous experience in children's residential care is needed. What matters is that you're kind, patient, reliable, and ready to learn, with a genuine belief that people deserve choice and control over their own lives.
Got transferable skills from retail, hospitality, education, childcare or customer service? Even better, we'll help you turn them into a rewarding career.
We'll give you all the training and support to become a brilliant Support Worker, with the chance to work towards recognised qualifications, including a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare where applicable.
