Some young people need more than classroom support.

They need adults who can stay calm during moments of anxiety, understand that behaviour is often communication, and help create an environment where they feel safe enough to learn.

We are recruiting for a specialist SEND setting in Esher supporting pupils aged 7-16 with:

Autism (ASC)

ADHD

Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties

Communication and interaction needs

All pupils have EHCPs and require tailored support to access learning, build confidence and develop independence.

The Role

As a Mental Health & SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils experiencing anxiety, dysregulation or emotional overwhelm

Build positive, trusting relationships through consistency and patience

Work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support

Help pupils engage with learning and classroom routines

Encourage emotional regulation, confidence and independence

Recognise early signs that a pupil may need additional support

Promote positive behaviour using a trauma-informed approach

Support sensory and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day

You will need:

Strong emotional intelligence and resilience
