Job Overview

The Gate Engineer role covers Greater / Central London and focuses entirely on automated gates, barriers and perimeter access systems. As an Gate Engineer, you will work across commercial, industrial and residential sites installing, servicing and fault-finding on Sliding Electric Gates, Speed Gates, Commercial Security Gates, Rising Bollards, Traffic Barriers, Cantilever Sliding Gates, Security Gates for Schools and Bi-Folding Gates. This Gate Engineer position suits someone confident with electromechanical automation and safety systems.

As an Gate Engineer, you will handle installation, commissioning, upgrades and reactive maintenance on electromechanical and hydraulic automation, safety devices, access control and control boards. The Gate Engineer will also support a regional on-call rota for emergency gate and barrier call-outs across London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance, reactive fault diagnosis and emergency repairs on automatic gates and powered barriers
  • Install, commission and upgrade electromechanical and hydraulic automation systems
  • Comply with DHF safety standards and site regulations
  • Complete first and second fix installation work across commercial and residential sites
  • Support a regional on-call rota for emergency gate and barrier call-outs

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven background as a Gate Engineer, Barrier Engineer or Gate Automation Specialist
  • Strong hands‑on experience with CAME, FAAC, BFT, HTC and Eagle Automation systems
  • Confident electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills with 230V/24V control boards
  • Knowledge of safety edges, induction loops, photocells and integrated intercom systems
  • DHF, CSCS or 18th Edition qualifications are desirable
  • Full UK driving licence

  • Base salary up to £50,000 DOE
