Location: Remote working, based Central Belt, Scotland for occasional client/team meetings

Contract Type: Full Time

Working Pattern: 5 days per week (flexible hours)

About the role

We're a growing consultancy looking for a technically grounded, business-aware professional to join our team. This is a perfect opportunity for someone with solid Oracle, SQL and Linux experience who wants to expand into Oracle APEX development - and prior APEX experience isn’t essential - we can give you what you need to pick it up quickly.

This hybrid, hands-on and strategic role offers the chance to take ownership of day-to-day technical operations while growing your skillset in a supportive, flexible environment.

What you'll be doing

Supporting and enhancing customer Oracle APEX applications

Taking ownership of customer operations including support queries, small changes and light enhancements, with potential responsibility for bigger development activities

Managing and mentoring junior developers

Handling data loading, cron jobs, user support, and system tweaks

Planning and delivering technical tasks with minimal supervision

Participating in client interactions and internal process improvements

You must have:

5+ years of IT experience, ideally in small teams or varied environments

Well-developed technical and interpersonal skills

Strong Oracle SQL and PL/SQL skills

Comfortable Linux skills (CLI, scripting, debugging, cron, basic admin)

Data operations experience (ETL pipelines, scripting, system integrations)

Version control experience (Git or similar)

Agile project environment experience (sprints, bite-size deliverables and continuous delivery)

Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, learn new technologies and expand your skillset

Experience with BI/reporting tools (Qlik, Power BI, etc.)

Web technologies knowledge (SSL, REST APIs, XML)

Familiarity with Confluence/Jira or similar project management tools

About APEX Training

If you're comfortable with SQL, PL/SQL, data structures, and basic web concepts, you'll pick up APEX quickly with our support. We're looking for strong technical fundamentals and the right mindset - we can teach the APEX specifics whilst you add value in other areas.
