Specialist SEN School - Burnley - Up to £600 per week - Full-Time - September Start

Are you passionate about helping children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) reach their individual potential?

Would you like a varied role where you can gain experience supporting pupils with needs ranging from SEMH and Autism to severe learning difficulties and PMLD?

A specialist SEN school in Burnley is looking for an adaptable and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join its experienced team. The school supports a diverse cohort of pupils with a wide spectrum of additional needs, providing an excellent opportunity to build broad experience across specialist education.

The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work with pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, PMLD, physical disabilities, and speech and communication difficulties.

Every pupil is different, and your approach will be tailored around their individual needs and EHCP outcomes. Depending on the pupils you are supporting, your responsibilities may include:

Delivering 1:1, small-group, and classroom support
Adapting learning activities to different abilities and communication styles
Supporting pupils with SEMH and emotional regulation
Using sensory, visual, and alternative communication strategies
Helping pupils develop independence and essential life skills
Supporting pupils with physical and complex learning needs where required
Working alongside teachers and specialist professionals to monitor progressAdaptability is particularly important within this SEN Teaching Assistant role. Some pupils may need support managing their emotions and behaviour, while others with SLD or PMLD may require highly personalised sensory, communication, and developmental support.
