Teaching Assistant - Special Needs Primary School

Location: Altrincham

Are you a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist primary school in Altrincham for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and dedicated team.

The school caters for children with complex special educational needs, and is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who can provide high-quality support both in and outside of the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children with additional needs and wants to develop their experience within a specialist school setting.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex needs.
Supporting children to access learning and participate fully in school life.
Helping pupils develop their communication, social and independence skills.
Supporting pupils with their individual learning and development plans.
Creating a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
Assisting with personal care where required.
Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour.
Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
Supporting children during lessons, break times and wider school activities.

About You

The successful candidate will be:

Caring, patient and empathetic.
Passionate about supporting children with SEND.
Calm, resilient and confident when faced with challenging situations.
Able to build positive and trusting relationships with children.
A strong communicator and team player.
Adaptable and willing to respond to individual pupil needs.
Previous experience working with children with SEND, complex needs, autism or challenging behaviour is highly desirable, although candidates with relevant transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
